Why do people call it Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru?
The Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple is named for Padmavathi, the goddess worshipped there. Here’s why:
- Sri: Sri is a respectful title used for goddesses and deities, meaning auspicious or holy.
- Padmavathi: The name Padmavathi comes from “Padma,” which means lotus, and “Vathi,” meaning one who holds. Thus, Padmavathi means “She who holds a lotus.” She is the divine consort of Lord Venkateswara, and “Ammavaru” means goddess, emphasizing her caring nature. People go to the temple to seek her blessings for prosperity and well-being.
My Peaceful Visit to Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanoor
I recently visited the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanoor, near Tirupati. It was a calm and beautiful experience that I will always remember.
The temple is just a short drive from Tirupati. As I entered Tiruchanoor, I saw many flower shops and small stalls on the way. The road was full of people, all walking toward the temple with devotion and prayers in their hearts.
When I reached the temple, I saw the tall gopuram (temple tower) decorated with lovely carvings. The place felt peaceful and clean. There were not many loud sounds, only temple bells and soft chants.
I stood in line for a few minutes, and then it was my turn to enter the sanctum. Inside, I saw Padmavathi Devi (Ammavaru). She looked divine, wearing a bright saree, lots of gold ornaments, and flowers. Her face looked calm and full of kindness.
Even though I could only see her for a few seconds, it felt like time had slowed down. I joined my hands and said a small prayer.
The priest gave me kumkum and prasadam, and I felt truly blessed.
There were many women dressed in traditional clothes, holding plates with flowers, coconuts, and lamps. Some were praying for marriage, some for good health, and some were just there to thank the Goddess.
The temple was filled with a soft smell of flowers and camphor. Everything felt warm and welcoming.
Even though the temple is not very big, it has a special charm. The atmosphere was peaceful, the darshan was smooth, and I felt very close to the Goddess.
I left the temple with a calm heart and a happy feeling. It felt like Ammavaru had listened to my prayers.
Donโt forget to visit Tiruchanoor and have darshan of Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru. Itโs a short trip from the main Tirupati temple, but the blessings and peace you feel there are truly special.
